What is Cadastral Map?

The first question arise in your mind that what is cadastral map? The cadastral map is the map that shows land parcels, land boundaries, survey numbers, area of land and land ownership. It is prepared for legal and administrative purpose.

Modern cadastral map uses GIS (Geographic Information System) to digitalize data, and provide attractive map, accuracy, timely update and satellite images.

What are the Features of Cadastral Map?

  2. Urban Area :- For urban residential area, cadastral map scale are uses from 1:1000 to 1:2000 range.
  3. Highly Congested area :- For highly congested urban areas, cadastral map scale are uses from 1:250 to 1:500 range.

Data Source for Cadastral Map

Cadastral maps are legal documents for land ownership and land boundaries. Data source from which cadastral maps are prepared are as below:

  1. By actual measurement of land or property to determine are of land.
  2. Traverse surveying to determine boundary coordinates of land parcels.
  3. Government revenue records (Record of Rights – ROR) which shows ownership details of land.
